Things to do off Duval

You will find your way down Duval on what we call the "Duval Crawl" but I would like to expand your experience on what Key West has to offer you and here are some of my favorite off beat suggestions:

Just outside the back of Truman Annex is Truman Waterfront Park.  A great place to see the sunset, go to the farmers market, see a concert at the amphitheater or walk to the end to Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park which covers a total of 54 acres, is a National Historic Landmark that played a significant role in Florida’s early development plus a beach and café with food and drinks.

One of our favorite happy hours is Bagatelle for a bourbon cocktail and lobster mac n cheese.

Afterdeck Bar at Louie’s Backyard is a great place to see the sunset with a cocktail.  Then go up stairs to the Cafe/Wine Bar for dinner with small plates facing the ocean with open doors.

Salute! On The Beach is located on Higgs Beach, owned by the Blue Heaven people.  Great place for lunch and make sure you order the calamari suauteed in marinara sauce with a side of bread to soak it up

If you like Tapas, one of the favorites would be Santiago's Bodega.

After all that eating and drinking you may want to climb the Key West Lighthouse steps for a view you will not forget.  They have a sunset package if you call in advance.

For the best sunset cruise try Danger Charters for the Wind and Wine Sunset Sail on a 65' schooner with an array of drinks including gourmet bites.

Sunday evening from 5-7pm offers great jazz in the garden at the Gardens Hotel.  Nearby at Sarabeths, some of the best fried chicken anywhere and just on Sunday night.

For some great classic cocktails, small bites and great bartenders stop at The Roost.  It's also a liquor store so pick up a bottle of St. George Green Chile Vodka, makes the best bloody mary.

Take a ride out to stock island to The Docks Restaurant and Raw Bar.  Great oysters Lunch or dinner, it's a new place you will not regret.

Having owned a wood fired pizza restaurant I love to find good wood fired pizza.  Roostica Wood Fired Pizzeria on stock island has a great authentic Neapolitan pizza.

Only Wood Grill has authentic wood fired pizza in addition to other things they cook in the oven like fish.

Adam Russell and Kelly Lever are two very talented artist that run Key West Pottery.  You will not be disappointed if you stop in the gallery.

If you travel by car to Key West make some stops on Islamorada.  Morada Bay is a great waterfront restaurant with table in the sand and next to a popular shopping stop at Worldwide Sportsman.  If you stay overnight Morado Bay also offers Pierre's Restaurant & Lounge.
